Get to Know Me

I have always loved stories. Whether through movies, books, plays, or conversations, I feel drawn to how personal experiences shape who we are. I initially pursued this love through theatre, earning my B.A. in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in performance from Cal State Long Beach. Both as an actor and a professional stage manager, I was exposed to the power of play, movement, deep listening, and meaningful relationships. Still, something was missing. I wanted to connect more deeply and serve my community. That calling led me to pursue a master’s in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. The transition was both natural and terrifying. It has also been one of the most fulfilling choices of my life. From school-based counseling to community mental health to private practice, I’ve grown as a clinician and as a person. Today, I draw from my creative roots, professional experience, and personal healing journey to support clients in owning their stories, just as I’ve learned to own mine.

My upbringing has provided me with a unique perspective to help my clients as they navigate the complexities of identity, belonging, and mental health in today’s world. So much of my experience is based on my own journey. I am neurodiverse (ADHD) but not diagnosed until I was well into adulthood. I was raised culturally Catholic but I have not attended church services in well over a decade. I am bi-cultural, Mexican and white, and have often struggled to feel fully rooted in either as a white passing descendent of immigrants. All of this allows me to connect deeply with other neurodivergent adults, culturally diverse individuals, and those deconstructing inherited belief systems.

I am a wife, mother, voracious reader, and lover of The Great British Baking Show, although I do miss Mel and Sue. My music tastes range from Yellowcard to musicals to Noah Kahan. I rewatch The Princess Bride every spring, binge Scrubs at least once a year, and my favorite books are The Night Circus and The House of the Spirits.

As a therapist, I am honored to be a part of your story. I hope that together, with humor and curiosity, we can help you move through this difficult season.
